Diamonds are a girls best friend

They look like earrings no? NO! They are in fact diamond encrusted earphones. Earlier this year, jeweller Thomas Heyerdahl created the world’s most expensive iPod, named "iDiamond"--It was crafted to be auctioned away for charitable cause in London on the 13th of March. However now he has created and is launching "iDiamond ear" (see right) for commercial sale, crazy Norweigans. According to Heyerdahl, "Each carefully crafted pair is set with 204 diamonds, adding up to a total of 1,65 carats. “iDiamond ear will be produced in a limited edition series of 1000 numbered pairs for exclusivity." These earphones are valued at $6,400--talk about breaking the bank...who would pay that much for earphones? In case you happen to be one of those people, the earphones will be available for purchase at all fine jewelry stores worldwide in February 2008. Interested? Click here for his website.

Functional and practical

Living in small spaces, as most of us college students living in NYC are, can be frustrating when shopping for furniture. This is why sdesignunit.com has come up with a genius way in which to use three pieces of furniture and translate them into a table and chairs, sofa, or even a bed! Wonderful. I'm not actually sure if this invention is on the market yet, but when it is I feel as though it would be perfect for cramped dorm rooms. The description stated on their website is:
"The young singles ratio is getting increase in the society. These people live alone in small apartment in the city. They would like to have multipurpose furniture for using small room efficiently. There are two chairs and on table. Ordinary these are two chairs and table. But When they watch TV. It can be Sofa. And when they go to sleep. It is going to be a single bed."
I think it's brilliant! The perfect mixture of fashion and practicality. What do YOU think?

Kind-of fishy

Ever wonder what to do with that old beater sitting out in front of your house? Me either, but apparently some others did. Judging by this video of a car turned fish tank, some thought about it long and hard and came up with the idea that a useless car can make for an ideal fish tank. Just something to think about I suppose. Check out the video of the car above which is on display in a shopping center in Bangkok. I'm thinking this may have been an artistic gesture rather than an applicable idea but nonetheless it's definitely fashionable!
